CREATIVE BRIEF
My Senior Capstone Project aims to provide a visual guide to iconic pieces of furniture and antiques that have cultural and social significance dating back centuries. Working in the art world and among interior designers and lifestyle brands shaped my interest and affinity for interior design. I produced a website featuring original vector images highlighting the defining features of iconic works. I’ve studied art history and visual arts both at Fordham University and throughout my high school and elementary education. From working in both luxury public relations and at Christie’s, the world’s leading auction house, I have come to have a greater appreciation and understanding of something that I am passionate about. The visual appendix seeks to educate while demonstrating a personal skill level in illustration and curation.
The information accompanying the images will provide a breadth of context about the history of the piece, the era, what makes it significant and additional points of interest like period advertisements or depictions and information where one might view the works today. There will also be quotes from industry experts and designers giving their input on what makes each piece so iconic. The text accompanying each of the images will be written by me in a more lay-persons voice, so that the information is accessible to people who are unfamiliar with the industry specific lexicon of specialists, art historians and designers.
